New Orurans, March 7, 184 Yesterday afternoon, Somner Lincoln Fairfield expired in thiseity. He has been long known to the citizens of this country as a poet, and a contri- butor to the periodicals of the day. He died in the utmost state of destitution, broken-hearted, among strangers, and must be buried by the cold hand of charity; and, to add to the melancholy in- cident, has left three destitute children, completely dependent upon the unfeeling world, without even the consolation, in mature life, of being able to discover the grave of their poor father, May God look kindly upon their helpless condition.
