I now consider it as worth, by the present state of our assets, at least $70. That is, if the hank was placed in liquidation now, it has good assets enough to return $70 to the stockholders. The exports in 1836, only eight years since, were but $1000, In 1843 they ‘were valued at more than a million. The imports do not show so great an increase, but they exhibit the same im- provement of trade and advancement of wealth. Commence oF Panigaae.. The amount of tonnage employed in the trade the past season is 1,826,950. ‘The exports in this short period show an increase of more than one honsand percent while the imports show an increase of, nearly fourhundred per cent. No other port in the Western country can produce an official state- ment so favorable as the above. This great increase is comprised of the productions of the soil, and is an increase of so much wealth.
