Not finding a stage at Troy to bring him to uus city he started on foot, and had proceed- ed as far as the place where he was found,when he was struck on the head, robbed, and thrown into the canal. The man states that he was perfectly sober at the time, and that his suspicion falls upon a man who was in a fish cart, and crossed the ferry at Troy at the time he did. “Phat in paying his fare he pulled out a quantity of money, amoag which were several gold pieces, which he has but little doubt the person he suspects as the robber saw. This man followed him from the ferry, and was close in his rear when the blow was struck, and inust have seen it done if he did not commit the act himself. He has not been seen since. Tue Warren TRAGEDY AGalIN. _The trial of Jo- seph Carter jr. for the murder of the Castner family has been set down for the next Oyer and Terminer in Belvidere, which convenes on the 22d August.— The Court Gudge Nevius presiding,) instructed the Sheriff properly concerning intercourse with the pri- soner. He is to see no person except his father and mother, wife and children, wand brothers and sisters, and these can only be permitted to visit him ac- companied by the Sheriff, or deputies by him ap- pointed His counsel, for obvious reasons, will be permitted to hold unrestricted intercourse with him. All other persons are to be rigidly excluded; and if any other relative or friend shall wish to commu- nicate with him, it must be by message, and such message be open to the inspection of the Sheriff or lus deputies.
