RalLRroap ARrancewent.—It will be recollected that a Convention of Directors of the eeveral K ail- road Companies between Albany and Buffalo, met in Albany in January last, forthe purpose of making such arrangements as would ensure to the travelling public “an expedi safe, pleasant and cheap transit between the Hudson River and Lake Erie.” The Convention resolved, alter full deliberation, that it was expedient to start the morning train trom the Hudson River and trom Lake Erie, at 6 A M., assoon as the spring business commenced. This arrangement took elect some days since at the west, and would have been canied out here, bat for the retusal of the Mohawk and Hudson Railroad Company to comply with its part of the engagement “he Rait Road Companies stand pledged by their proceedings to the Legislature, to the Post Office Department, and to the btic, to carry their ar- Tangements into eflect. Free at East Campripgx.—Thursday afternoon about 8 o’clock, a fire broke out in a le kept by Uriah J. Daley, at East Cambridge, Mass., which, with most of its contents, was entirely consumed. From thence the fire communicated to the stable adjoining the Lechmere House; both house and stuble, with the principal part of their contents, were also destroyed by the fames. The fire, owing to the high wind which blew at the time, crossed the street, and communicated to the brick building occupied by Mr. Wheeler asa dry goods «tore; and bv Mr. Perry as a shoe store; also by the Middlesex Bank. This building, and ‘the stock contained io il, were injured to the amount of about $1.500. ‘Total loss by the fire estimated from 10 to $12,000. The hotel was insured, but the furniture was not.
