Spice of Life. 8 Lare anv’ Larortant] rnom Froripa.—The fol- Jowing is an extract ot a letter from Pulatka, under date of the 26th ult. ‘The news of the escape of a party of Indians from Sea Horse Key is probably in- eorrect:—* Matters in general in Florida wear rather \ favorable aspect, and I trust if success continues it will not be long before the country will be entire- ly rid of every red-skin. Tigertail is safely out of the woods, his band, together with Octiarche’s, consisting of over one hundred Indians, among whom are forty-two hearty warriors, tound themselves rather suddenly transferred from terra firma to the steamer a few days since at Tampa, and as suddenly transferred to Horse Key, a picturesque isle, whence they sail for New Orleans on the 3st inst. Great Ractne.—It is not often we notice the re- sult of races over any course in the Union ; but there are cases, sometimes, in which such records come in as illustrative of the American ** go-ahead” principles, and indicate the progress which appa- rently so distinguishes our country in all things — Miss Foote, the winning nag on Saturday last, has been a faverite with turtmen ever since her first pub- lie trial ; and those in the South owe her a great deal of praise for establishing the heretofore “‘moot- ed point” between the relative swittness of North- ernand Southern horses. We think that the pre- sent case, added to others which have gone before, fully proves the pre-eminence of Southern nags.— There are not 80 many of them nor do they run so often, but when they do run it takes a “ little light- ning” to eke out the speed of the horse that beats thi We have noroom for a technical descripuon —so we merely give the result of the “best race ever ran!
