The Dover Enquirer contains the following ia relation to that and sone other matters:—The Courts are hereafter to consist of five Judges—three Superior and two Circuit Judges— with the County Jadges a8 at present constituted The Superior es to attend the law terms end one thira of the jury terms, and the Cireuit Judges the balance of the jury terms. Stockholders in ali Corporations hereafter established, or in those already established, subject to alteration by the Legislarure, are to be held liable in their indi- vidua! capacity, for the debts of the corporation No rai'ronds are to be built until the consent of the landholders through which they pass is obtained, and the damages paid. Paut Jones,—It is stated in the Gardner (Me ) Ledger that there is now living in the town of Li- vermore, in that State, Thomus Chase, one of the seamen who were with Paul Jones on board the fa- mous Bon Homme Richard, when engaged with two British ships of war. This veteran sailor is now ot the age of 86—apparently in the enjoyment of good health. The only organ of sense which ap- pears to be much impaired, is that of hearing. The tympanum of his ear having been injured by the goncussion caused by the guns, he having extended his head through a port note during the firing. Mr. Onase is a native of Martha’s Vineyard, and has lived in Livermore fifty two years. It 1s ‘gratifying fo state that he is surrounded by his children and grendenildeep, and in the enjoyment of a pension rom the government. AvExanner.— The statement of Alexander, in re ference to the killing of Mr. Lougee, related to one of the jury, since the trial, is, that “*he went into the office of Mr. Lougre to get some western mo- ney ehanged, that atterthe exchange had been ef- fected, Mr. L. suspected the note to be bad ; that a dispute consequently arose between them : the lie passed from both parties across the counter ; the prisoner was ordered to leave the office, but feeling is dignity wounded, he refused ; upon’ which Mr. L. came round the ¢ Santer, 2 and was about to seize him, when he clutched the dag; er, made a pass with it, and how or where he stru a him, or with what dearee, of force, he did not know, until after it was jone Cast or Stannine at Campripceport.—On Mon- day evening about eight o’clock, a young lady named Kerr was returning from s nging school. New Improvement Iv THe Manuracture or Carrers.—The new mill which is in progress of building in Lowell bi the Lowell Corporation, is in- tended for the introduction of carpet power looms, which is a new invention by a gentleman of that city. Heretofore the hand loom alone has been used. By this new invention one female will be able to do the work of three men. A few of these looms have been in operation for several months, and their complete success placed beyond a doubt. Manytanp.—Daniel S. Biser was duly ele Speaker of the lower House of the vland one lature. Mr. Powder asked leave to introduce a bill to repeal the law imposing a tax on the people of this State. The yeas and nays were taken on granting the leave, and decided in the affirmative by a vote of 58 to 18.
