The good sense mraunity having become disgusted with such a gross impropriety of conduct, a company ot young men thought to give the affair an additional degree ef !udicrousness by going round the house at night, here the marriage ceremony was perform. ed, and ringing bells, blowing horns, &c. They did «o Sabbath evening, when a neighbour liv- in valfa mile distant, named Ferguson, re- buke ~in for so doing: The company went again the next evening on horses, and stopped before the house of Mr. Ferguson, and serenaded him tor his } e the previous night; he went to the door and ordered them to disperse or he would shoot them; the young men immediately directed their steps ac- cording to directions, when Ferguson called to some one to hand him his gun, which he imme- diately discharged, burying the contents in the neck, head and shoulders of a young man of the company, named Charles Jerome, about 18 or 20 years of age It is supposed some sixty shots were lodged within end that he cannot recover. Ferguson was d, and had a trial before Justice Collar, who him under bonds ot $500 to appear before xt Court of Common Pleas for trial.—<Ash- Ohio, Sentinel, Dec. 2 zom THR Sanpwicu Tstanps.—We have been favored with the following memoranda of news from Oahu, to Oct. 1:—Over 2,000,000 yards of American cotton goods were lying in store, quite unsaleable—great part would be shipped to Valpa- siso. French corvette Embuscade was at Oahu early in September. Fearrut Acctpent —On Thursday night the sloop Dart, of Brewster's Creek, was blown over, being in ballast, on her beam ends on the part beds, ai- rectly off this village, and partially filled. The depth of water did not admit of her aking, and the next morning she was seen fromeach shore. There were tour hands on board, three of whom were on deck at the time she went over, and one in the cabin. In the course of the night the three leit the wreck, without an attempt to igre their ie‘low sufferer in the cabin, and drift having no oars, to the shore, near Sparta. cay he ext morn- ing persons from the shore, discovering the wreck, anda man on the vessel, boats and oarsmen from ce, and also from Rockland landing, put off, to bring him to shore, and thusthe poor man was restored providentially to his anxious friends in that county.
