Inpiax Dirricvtins —Colonel Taylor has given notice to the Seminoles, who have taken peasession of a portion of the Cherokee country,that they must remove by the Ist inst. Alligator, who is at the head ofthat band of Semi. noles, has avowed his determinatien to remain where he is, He says there are not United States soldiers enough in the country to force him off, and he will not leave. It is, there ore, probable that the war with the Seminoles will be renewed on our western froatier. Accipentatty SHot—A young man named Phelps, who has been employed the past season by Mr. Dwight Waters of Bloomield, went on a hunting excur sion to West Hartford on the 4th inst. As he was passing through an orchard, he attempted to knock some apples from a tree with the breech ot his gun, (which was cock- ed,) when the charge exploded, and entered his side, the muzzle of the gun of course, fromthe manner of his using it, pointing towards his body. He lingered about four hours, andexpired. We have noticed within two months, accounts of at least four deaths from the accidental dis- charge of guns, and in each case the accident proceeded from the careless manner in which the gun was handled. Stitt Axorner.—An interesti.g and promising young man, named Romeo Nichols, eee about 17 years, (only son of Mrs, Almir: ichols, of Gaines, Orleans Co.) came to his death under very painful circumstances, on Friday last, at that place. He went to the woods, near the village, in the afternoon, with one or two other individuals, for the purpose of hunting. On climbing a fence, his gun accidentally went off, and its contents of shot were dis- charged into his heart!
