Not satisfied with this, a plank was placed on the track, in such a position as to have thrown the car off and down a distance of several feet—endan- ering the lives of all who were in it. A more cold looded piece of villiany has rarely disgraced humanity. A timely discovery of the impediment, prevented the ca- tastrophe designed by the scoundrel or fiend who placed itthere. We trust the perpetration of these outrages will not long go unwhipt of justice. $50 are offered forthe ap- prehension of the perpetrators. The Democratic papers are greatly indignant at the outrage. Accipentatty SHot—A young man named Phelps, who has been employed the past season by Mr. Dwight Waters of Bloomield, went on a hunting excur sion to West Hartford on the 4th inst. As he was passing through an orchard, he attempted to knock some apples from a tree with the breech ot his gun, (which was cock- ed,) when the charge exploded, and entered his side, the muzzle of the gun of course, fromthe manner of his using it, pointing towards his body. He lingered about four hours, andexpired. We have noticed within two months, accounts of at least four deaths from the accidental dis- charge of guns, and in each case the accident proceeded from the careless manner in which the gun was handled. Stitt Axorner.—An interesti.g and promising young man, named Romeo Nichols, eee about 17 years, (only son of Mrs, Almir: ichols, of Gaines, Orleans Co.) came to his death under very painful circumstances, on Friday last, at that place. He went to the woods, near the village, in the afternoon, with one or two other individuals, for the purpose of hunting. On climbing a fence, his gun accidentally went off, and its contents of shot were dis- charged into his heart! CURE THE ‘OLOWING REMARKS WILL PLACE BE- FORE the public a few most deeply interesting facts.— First, That the disease d StmIC TURE, is of very frequent occurrence and often exis in perwomeehs arene en the least aware of it; next that ¢ very erroneous notivn prevails Te ure, and that ignorant adi rtasing people take ntage of this erronemus noti that there ave three particular circumstances by whi Stricture ma sways known—and in the last place, that the eure of & rc ture ts certain. free ‘from pain, and’ generally accomplished fg vey ltt With Foperd tothe he Ges of these remarks :— itis well known that Stricture is the result of a badly treated ‘Gebarios, If, for instance, that disease is suffered to con- from “month to month, it slides ? ag po pain or iuconveniedce in gleet, and d to remain indefimitely. But it should be known chronic ipoamumation (the passage, which thickening, and this thickening at ove part or jaw of eo. pansngs is seneeare s and, further, that al- though stricture may pain unnoticed for a length of ume, it is far from laying dormant, buc is the hidden cause of maay serious peace not only of a sexual, but those also of a ner- vous and dyspeptic kind, Buc what “epeeally lends the attention off from this disorder is the idea that stricture cannot exist so long as no impediment to the tlow of arine is observed, which is quite a mistake. stretare often exists for yi os without producing any very striking change in this resj j indeed aiditminished or inter pted stream of urine belongs saly to the worst of cases, ant to prevent this very state that these remarks are published. The advantage, however, which ignorant advertising people iy take of this erzoucous notion is very crual. Eve nows how men of this discription swarm about and that they will sell their nostrums as long as any one tie ci Guy them. Now, itis fact, and one which every real physician will in: mediately acknowledge, that all the medicine in the, world, alone, can never enre astricture. In proof of this, nothing i ore common the’ for the writer to ‘be consul ed by persons why have be of th red arops, snd pills, and cord, for many montns together i ‘seeing the real nature of the case, he has cu f preventing these impositions. therefore, it seems de) rable to lay before the public afew pin circum- stances by which a Stricture may be kpown, which can be casi- ly done ; for although the symptoms of pert disease are numer ‘ous, there are three of especial import, and these three may be stated very briefly—they are the following : ‘The frat rclates to Themanner of urinating —It has been already said the stream need not be much diminished or impe Bat observe atten- after it is finished and the: aces are readjusted, wheth- op or two. will ever steal away, so asto wet a little— monn wz is more indicative of stricture. ‘The ext is @ Gonorrhoea has remained uncured —It is diff cult to say how longa Gonorthwa or Gleet inay. ran rnd not luce a stricture, for one is natural! snore to stric- ture than another ; but, asa eum eneral rule, ifit should ve fered to go on beyond six weeks, this alone would afford sufficient frgund, a Least for the ‘suspicion of astricture. ‘The last is— The effect a stricture has upon the mind —The effect of ‘Stricture , and to lessen both bodily and meutal acti one of its most common effects. Not, however, that it is seen alike inevery individual, but it 1s so common that the writer rarely sees a case of stricture (and he sees many every day) in which the patient doesnotcomplain more or less, that he is not so capable of business as formerly. It isgratifying’ also to witness dhe uniform recura ot spirits, sud the disappearing of otner maiauies as the cure provresse ith regard to the cure of Stricture, on this subject tt. is suf- ficient to observe (and it is stated with confidence and ples: re) thi is certain, free from pai generally scfm. ‘eens rs avery little time.
