From June, 1839, to April, 1841, the managers of the concern put into their pockets, at the expense of the State, (for the people wil have eventually to pay for these stocks,) $106,000. The law obliges the companyjnot to sell for less than par. How far havethey adhered toit, the above list is proof. At the date of the report, the company was to have received $1,500,000 more stock, and in ccasequence of the low market priceef the State credit arising from their own acts, they claimed and received 6 per cent stock, which they forced upon thy market every four- teen days until all had teen obtained. The effect of these sales upon the market, is too clearly discernable to admit of any doubt. The fullowing are rates of the dif. ferent denominations of New York stocks at several pe- rieda :— ug 1841. Oct. Dee. Jan. Feb, N.York State's, 1961, 100 998 = =90 = 1.82 Ry 1860, 82 «= 980s RSCG Do 1858, 86 85 aL 7 19 These 6 per cents of 1961, and the 5j’s are those issued ‘to the road, and we find that those descriptions fell 18 per cent, while the regular State 5's fell but 7 per cent; and thatin February, the 5 per cents were actually 3 per- cent higher than the 5} per cents. The company ob ‘tained all the stock they could from the State, sold it a fast as posible, regardless of loss, pat the money in their pockets, and immediately notified the department that they should not pay the interest due on the stock in April. So much for falsehood No.2. It is not aston- ishing that the Wall street prints are cerrupt, when we consider their connections ; but it is astonishing, that they have no more wisdom at this late day, than to at- tempt such glariag deceptions on the public.
