The “league”’ is under- stood to be formed, and the bank at Camden is inclu- ded it it. Ia domestic exchanges there bas been but little change during the week. The rates are now as fol- lows :— Cunaect Bank Notes. Some little improvement is visible in the rates cense- quent upon the forced contraction of the southern cur- rencies. The arrangement of the Philadelphia banks with each other in relation to the Safety Fand established seems to have been entirely misrepresented to the pub- lie, prebably designedly #0 onjthe part of the Banks. The proposed fund offers not the slightest guarantee to the public for any of the banks that mey prove delinquent. It te only aguarantee between themselves for their own balances. The banks agreed to pay out theirown notes only, andte settle balances with each other weekly in ash ; but they could not trust each other. Therefere the quota of $76,000 each was required to be p aced in the hands of trustees, to guarantee that the balance due from each particular bank to the others shall be paid at the end of the weck. For instance, the Bank of Phila phia deposites with the trustees $75,000. If at the close of the week she owes another bank a balance of $50,000, and cannot pey it,then it must be paid out of the $75,000 deposited, and it is applicable to no other purpose. It willbe seenthe public has no interest in that matter beyond the mere fact that the arrangement tends in some degree to check the issues of the institutions, and there- fore to reduce the depreciation of the currency. It is to be hoped that s0 much of the bill before the PeanayTvania Legislature as compels immediate and unconditional re- iption will become a law. It has passed the House by a vote of 74 to 14, and will no doubt puss Tennessee Senate have repealed the resumption bill sent to them from the House. At this season of the year, when the supply of bille from the north is so great, if the Danks! of those sections were compelled to pay specie, an immense influx of silver would set in fromthe Mexi can States. The whole current of specie shipments- from Central America and the West Indies to Eng. land, which take place in large sums, should be turned intothe New Orleans market.y When the United States Bank was tottering to its fall, it procured large sums by sales of fictitious billsin Mexico, In 1634,when the rate of in, Feb 2—Arr Geo Gardener, Bio, Sid Isabella, Bt ul The ne stares known as 94 andg6 Pea t, SiverSare anes tat port om encee’ tae | Ce Merah Mar EAE NT | Pte gerne a aera ilverdollers came into that por 10. e s Mie oft et ae sts? 8 ‘ater whole import of that year was $14,000,000 of silver, and wine brig. ‘. iif ‘itis (itaran.
