Two Brigs would pro- bably have fhared the fame fate, had not their malts been tmmediately cut away, Ie happened providentially that all' the houfes were covered with fnow, otherwife the whole place might have been laid in afhes, as the wind was wefterly, which blew direétly upon the town, and carried with it large flakes of fire, which flew at a great diftance.
