_ Extraf of a Letter from New Providence, Fuly 15- i 7 N the 14th, laft month, arrived here the pri- W vateer fnow General Shirley, of this port, mounting 16 guns eight pounders, commanded by Captain Berjamin Clifford, and a Letter of marque fchoongr of ten guns, 6 pounders. Captain Gardiner, belonging to Jamaica, with the following prizes, viz. Ship Ranger of and for Salem in New-England,load- ed with beft white fugars. Sloop Eleanor of snd for NewYork, with 100 hhds, of white fugar. And, Schooner Humming Bird, of and -for Bofton, with 108 hhds. of molafles, and 24 hhds. of fugar. 'The fhip and floop with their cargoes are condemned, and the fchooner is in a fair way. The fhip is to be fitted out as & privateer. “¢ The General Thomas privateer of this port, Capt. Mac Donald, fent in a large thip named the Rebecca, Wm. Brown,commander,fromLeoganne, with 300 hhds. fuger, fsid to belong to Philadelphia, whither fhe was baupd ; from lome circumftances attending this veffel, gerucuhxly her outward cargo, it is faid no claim will * entered, and conlequently the fhip and cargo con- demned. ¢ Captain Mills arrived here with Csptain M’Donald tells us, he was taken from this port for Jamsica, and put afhore st Baracos, after being cruelly ufed by the French. He fays, that Captain Forret, in his Ma- jeRty’s fhip Centaur, has tsken a French manof War of fixty four guns, richly laden with Indico, &c. and that n.vc: of our privateers are taken and carried into Hifpa- niols. * Two days ago Captain Greenwood, of his Majefty’s fhip Zephyr, arrived here, and brought in a northward floop from Monto Chrifti, with fifty hhds. of Molafles end 54 hhds. of fugar. Captsin Greenwood had fome time before fent in here afloop of and for Philadelphis, with fifty hhds. of fugar and fome coffee, from Monto Chrifti, which is condemned. The Zephyr will re- main here fome time,and go from hence toCharleftown, before fhe proceeds on another cruile. “ The following privateers, all of this port, are failed from thence to cruife againft hisMajefty’s enemies, viz.
