IS MAJESTY having Nothing fo much at Heart, as by the molt vigorous Profecution of the #ar, : to reduce the Enemy to the Né- ceffity of accepting a Peace on Terms of Glo- ry and Advantage to His Majefty’s Crown, aad beneficial in particular to his Subjeéts in America : Andas Nothing can fo effentially Contribute to that great and efiential Object, as the King’s being enabled to employ as immediately as may be, fuch Part of the Regular Forces in'North- America, as may be Adequate to fome great and important En- terptize againft the Eoemy : And it being His Majefty’s Pleafure, that in order the better to provide for the full and entire Security of his Majefty’s Dominions in North- America, and particularly of His Majefty’s Conquefls there, during the Abfence of fuch Part of theRugularForces as may be emplay’d in faid Enterprize ; that this Government furnith Two Thirds of the Men that were employ’d the laft Campaigp. And whereas the Legiflature of this Go- vernment, has refolved to pay Five Hundred and Thirty-four able-bodied and effective Men, Officers included, to be employed in fecuting His Majefty’s Conquefts already made on this Continent, under fuch General Officers as is, or may be appointed by His Majefty, to take the Command of them, ull the Fifteenth Day of November next, if not fooner difmis’d, . DO liereby promife and engage, That all . {uch able bodied effedtive Men, as fhall inlift under Perfons that receive Beating- * Orders. from me, fhall be intituled to the following Pay, Gratuities and Rewards, viz. _ That each Non-Commiffion Officer and private Soldier, fhall reccive Thirly Shillings Sterling as a Bounty ; and after he paffes Mufter, and before he marches, a further Bounty of Twa Pounds Ten Shillings Sterling, to provide himfelf with Cloaths ; and alfoa Blanket. And that each Private (hall receive Thirty Shillings Sterling “per Month Wages. T hat they fhall not be detained in the Service longer than the Fifteenth Day of November next. And that each Officer and Private receive one Month’s Pay advance, before marching. And further, that no Non-Commiffion Officer or Private, that (hall inlift and proceed on faid Service, Thall be liable to have his Body arrefted, ftayed or imprifoned during the Continuance of faid Service, upon mean Procefs or Execution, for any lefs Sum than T'en Pounds Sterling, due to one Plantiff. A French Privateer of 8 Guns was brought into An- tigua on Tharfday laft, by the Crefcent. * Capt,-Coliing- wond, who chifed her into a Bay in Dominico, where her Men prepared to defend her with imall Arms fram the Shore ; but the Inhabitants came down and pre- vented them, “for feer of their Towns > Such good Ef- fe&s had the late fpirited Behaviour at St. Jofeph’s. We hear that ris Majefty’s Ship Raifonable, whilfton her Scation off the 3renades, took Fire.in the Gun- Room, and was in great Danger of being blown up. All her Powd=r and Stores werc thrown overboard, and fhe was obliged to Jeave her Station to refit; but it is faid proper Meafares werc teken to prevent the Efcape of the Frgnch Ships in the mean Time. Upon the 13th Infk. arrived in this Road a Sloop bowad from Barbados to Cork, laden with Rum. She was lately taken by a/French Privateer, who took out all the Crew, except three Englifh Sailors, and an Ita- lian. The Privateer put on board a Prize Mafter and Six Seamen, but the Englifi took an Opportunity of feizing npon the Frenchmen, and tsking Poficifion of the Veffel, without Blood-thed, or any hurt to the Frenchmen, except that two of them were knock’d down. The fame Day arrived here a Schooner bound to Martineco from St. Vincents, with Coffee, Cocoa amd Tobacco, taken by- His Mgjelty’s Sloop Virgin, Capt. Brifbane. And Yefterday arrived here His Majefty’s Sloop Virgin, and bro’t in & Schooner laden with Coffee. This Schooner was lying at Anchor clofe “to the Shore of St. Lucia ; the People afhore gotunder Arms to prevent her being taken, and kept a very, hot Fire with Swivels and {mall Arms upon the Virgin and her Bodt, by which Capt. Brifbane and feven Men were wounded, one of which is fince dead, and another muflt have'a Leg cat off. Lieut, Brabsyzén, who cemmanded the Bout, was obliged to return to the Sloop to get a fet of frefh Men, every one in the Boat being wounded ; be then hoarded the Schooner under the Fire of the Sloop and Boat, and bro’t her out. Thutfday laft Captain Johnfon arrived here in a Brig in 29 Days from Jamaica: Off Crociked ifland, he mét with a Boat with t Men in her, who faid they be- longed to the Privatear Sloop Harlequin, Ciptsin Omen. of this Port, who was caft away on Ackland’s Key, and that they were bound to Providence to endeavour o obtain a {mall Sloop, to carry away all that could Le faved of the Wreck, : The Ship —, George Hunter, Mafter, of Phila< delphia, from Newfoundland, to Cadiz, put into Fysil the 2gth of January. In 10 Days sfter they left the Land they fprung a Léak, and it was with Dificuly all Hands could keep her Free, with both Pumps going. About the 8th of Februsry the Ship Marquis of Granby, Capt. Lyle, of and from Philadelphia to Lifbon, {prung a Lesk at Sea ; when within 10 Leagues of Fyall, all the Hands took to their Boat and left her; and the next Day fhe was drove clofe in with St. George’s, where the was tawed into a good Harbour. Captain Seass, in a Sloop belonging to this Port, in his Voyage from hence for Newfoundlend, was caft awsy about fix Weeks fince, on the Mle of Sable ; the [Vcircl and greateft Part of the Cargo loft, but the Crewr aved. The Snow Eglingtoh, Archibald Roberton, was taken between South-Caralina and Bermuda, on the 12th of March, in Lat. 21. Long. 66. 43. by a French Letter of Marque Brig, but ranlomed for 200 Guineas. The Frenchmen put fix Englith on board, belonging to a new Snow from Newbury, for St. Kiuts, which he had taken. The Ketch Jenny, Afh, Mafter, from Lifbon, was taken by the fame Brig, onthe 14th. This Brig is Bermudia built, mounted eight 6Pounders and 8 Swivels, and had about 40 Men, was from Martineco, bourd for Marfeilles, with a very valuable Cargo of Indico,Cocos, and Coffee on board, which fhe was to land at Cadiz. It’s faid the ebove Account came by Exprefs to Bilboz a few Hours belore this Veflzl fail’'d frem thence.
