Venetian, 7 Nezpoli:an, 10 Ragufan, and 7 Maltefe. 3289 fhips of different nations paffed the Sound for the Baltick, and 3586 fail repafied the fame: and 1696 fhips arrived at, and 1648 failed from Rotterdam. *PHILADELPHTIA, Novemb. 13. By Capt. Falconer from Portfmouth, we have the following intelligence, which arrived there exprefs [rom London, dsted Sept. 6th, 12 at night, viz. « THA'T a Meflenger was juft arrived from Prince Ferdinand, giving a certain account that Marfhal Brog- lio, with his whole army ( not being able to fubfiit any longer where he was, or to carry his point of penctrating into Hanover ) had retreated ; and that Prince Ferdinand bad fent the Innifkilling and Scotch Grey dragocns, all the light cavalry, and grenadiers of the whole army, to harrafs their rear, which it was expetéted would bring on & general engagement. By this the French have loft their point for this campaign. Three Flanders mails arrived this forenoon, and the Bruflels Gazette comfirm the King of Pruffia’s vi€tory over Laudohn. Three Ditch mails’ this evening, but no news-paperscan be feen to-night: ‘T'he Innifkiiling and Scotch Greys have cut off the parties the French left to cover their retreat, and all thic reft, as before, are harrafling their rear,which, i’s thought, wiil be attended with more lofs to the French than a general action, and with little or none to the Allies.” Onthe 16th ult. Willis, from Halifax, off the head of Cape- Sable, faw feveral bundles of hay, fome cattle, and feveral other things floating, and afterwards faw a vel- fel bottom upwards which took to be a floop. Extra8 of a fetter from Halifax, O&lober 27. —_ Ord Colvil arrived here the 24th from Quebec in the Northumberland ; as alfo theRochefter, Penzance, Falkland, Diana and Porcupine : More are expedled the beginning of next month; 10 or 12 fail are to winter here. The Greyhound frigate is arriv’d from Portfmouth, with difpatches to Lord Colvil.— Commodore Swanton is to have the command of the fhipping the enfuing winter : the Creyhound is failed, if peflible, to overtake him before he gets out of " the river. We hear, that in the florm on Monday laft, 2 prize Sloop of about 6o tons, was piloted into Salem by a fithing Ichooner : She wasf.om St. Domingo, laden with Coffce, Sugzar and indigo, and taken by Capt. Silas Couke, in a Rhode Ifland privateer, and was bound thither. By the Courier (rom Albany lait week, we lesrn, that his Excellency General Amherft was fill there, but *twas tho’t he would foon embark for New York, as moft of his baggage was already fhipped on boarda veflel for that place : That a number of the provincials have been difcharged. and ’twas faid the refl would slfo be difmified in a few days. ; Capt. Newton in a large fhip, who failed from hence laft Sunday {¢’nnight, bound for Jamasica, laden with lumber, &c. was caft away on Cep:Cod laft Tuelday morning, in a Gale of wind ; the fhip ftruck aboutg o’clock, and the fecond fea afterwards beat her ftern in ; the Capiain and 4 men got into the boat, which over- fet foon after they put off and were sll drowned, the Boat was afierwards found bottom upwardson the fand; the Mate with the reft of the psople remained on board in the fore part of the fhip, tiil nine in the evening, when they were all taken off by a boat from the fhoie, tho’ with grest diffi uliy. Beech in the letter of Marque Ship Union Club, failed from Briftol for this place the 18th of September laft, but as the wind held to the wefiward for three wecks after, "twas tho't he put back ; and that Capt. Difhwood in a fhip from this place was arrived at London. Friday laft arrived here Capt Scott in 20 odd days from Quebec, and informs, that in coming down the river he faw feveral veflels going up, but fpoke with only one of them, viz. a ftorefhip fromEngland. And, Yefterday the Captains M'Neil, Cloufton, apd one or two others ariived here from the fame place; Cap:. M'Neil informs. that laft Friday he had one of his hands knock’d over board by the boom, as they were going at the rate of g kaots, and was drowned. PORTSMOU TH.
