E. ftorm we had here the beginning of this Month, feveral veflels at fea reccived confiderable damage ; particularly Capt. Tillet in a fhip from Philadelphia for New-York, whofe ftandards in the hold gave way, and the cargo fhifting, fhe lay on her beam ends for feveral days, and expeéted every Mo- ment to have foundered, the very chain bolts were torn from the fhip's fides by the violence of the gale. In the height of the gale Capt. Tillet faw a fhip with only her foremaft ftanding, lying with her head to the North- ward, but could not fpeak with her.—Capt. Budden in a brig from Lifboun {or Philadelphis, loft his mafts, had his boat, two men and cabous wafhed away at one [ca, his quarter-rails tore away, one third of his falt damag- d, and 30 quarier cafks ot wine ftaved. —And the let- ter of marque floop Tyrrel, from St. Kiuts to New- York, in the above gale lof her boom, top-meit and all her fails, and had not the wind abated maft gone athore on Cape Hatteras. Bradford in 26-days from Quebec, and 15 from Ifl: of Coudre, by him we learn, that there are between 4 and scoo French to be fent to France, who would not take the oath of al- legiance, and that five tranfporte, with a number of them on board, had got down the river as far as the I{le of Choudre, in their way to France : That the Repulfe and Racehorle frigates, and a large cat, had gone to the Bay of Chaleuss, to take off the inhabitants there, hav- ing carried with them a French cflicer, with orders from Gov. Vaudreuil, to cifband all the Regulars and make void all commiffions ; but that if they fhould not tamely fubmit, z or 3 [chooners, with between 3 and 400 Regulars, which went under their ccnvoy, would foon compel them to do it :—That the garrifon had more wood in the ecity than they could confume this feafon :—That the articles of capitulation fent by Monf.
