La% Thurfday Moraing, about Three 0'Clock, the Town was again alarm’d by the Lry of Fire, which broke out in a Tar Houfe, adjoining and beloaging to 8 Rope Wa'k improved by M. James Barrick, which foon confumed that and nezr 100 Fathom in Length of the Covering of the Walk, together with a large Quan- tity of Hemp, large Cables, Rigging, and all the Work- ing Tools for the Rope-making Bufinefs that were therein : The Lols of which, exc.ufive of the Building, isjudged ‘to be about £. 4000 Sterling. The Wind biowing very frethat N, W. the Flames were drove with great Viclence upon a Dwelling Houfe cortigu- ous to the Rope-Walk, which was entirely confumed : The Fiie alfo communicated itfelf to Mr.. McDaniel’s Rope-Wa k, but by peliing down about 10 Fathom of the Building, moft of thie other Part was faved : Mr. McDaniel’s Dwelling Houfe received a great deal of Damage, and was in a moft extrzordinary manuer faved from entire Rain, it being for fome Time in Flames in aimoft cvery Part; but by the Dexterity of the Pecp'e in fupp!ying the Bngines with Water,which were kept conftantly at Work, great Part of the Houle was faved ; feveral other Houfes catch'd en Fire, and were in imminent Danger. but no other confumed.
