May, {ay, shat two Mails from Germacy haa arrived that Day, with Advices portentous of *Good to the Pruffian Caufe. Befides the T'roops already in the Pay of this Pro- vince, the General Aflembly have refolved, That two Companies of Rangers be forthwith raifed for the Pro- te@ion of the Inhabitants in our back Settlements a-- gainft the Tnfults and Outrages of Indians. "M A LIF AX, (in Nova Scatia,) July 7. tOn Saturday thesYark ard Helitax Sioups of this Province, and the Pilot Schooner, failed from hence to Cape Sable, with Paflengers on board wha lately come here from the Continent, to view the Lands at the Cape, with an lateption of {ettling there ; fo that the Inhabitaots were removed from thence in good Time, which we are informed, is moch owing to the Di(pazch and &kilful Marnagement of Major PuiLrrps, to whom the Governor had fent Authority far (ranfalt- ing (bat Bufinefs, and immediately thereon left Anna- polis Royal in the Montague Brigantine, and in two Days after his Arrival at Cape Sable, with the alert Affiftance of the Captains of the Province Veflels, got all the Inhabitants on beard, except one Famiiy, which run into the Woods —Itis to be hoped, that the Settie ment at Lunenburg will no longer be liable to fuch Difaflers as have lately happened there. We hear that Major_Phillips had the Tharks of the Governor and Coungil for his effeQual and expeditious Performance of this publick Service. PH1ILADELPHIA, Fuly 26. Extraft of a Latter from Pitifourgh, Fuly 6, 1759. «¢5 Three Days ago the Beaver came here with 243 Indians, of different Nations ; fome of them Deputies to confirm the Peace. We endeavoured to perfuade them to go to Philade!phia ; but they were averfe to it, and fay, they will go ard vfit their Brethien, the- Englifh, when their Wives and Children can fleep in Peace. . - wAr Tudian Spy fow z5-Canoes prfs by 2n Indian Town where he was foar Days ago, all full of Indians, going down to Venango ; and he met 20 Men two Days fince, all from over the Lakes.” Extralt of another Lotter from the fame Place, Fuly 7. “ There is no Room to doubt the Enemy’s being re- fuforced by a grefer Body of ladians than we fufpeéted. «« A Delaware Fellow, fent to colle@ the Indians from the Heads of the Obio, returned laft Night, and briggs latelligence of 400 at leaft being at Venango, and fundry Parties more expeted ; a Reinforcement of Soldiers has likewile arcived. Forty French, and 250 Indians, were at the Kifkemonitas laft Week ; one of the advanced Guard, going a Quarter of a Mile be- yond bis Poft, was killed and {calped the zgth olt. at a Spring. ) : The Reaver arrived here two Days ago with moft of the principal Men of the Delaware Tribe. Some of the Shawaaefe, Owendats, Mohickons, Mahonies, and a few of the Six Nations, were colle@ing here be- fore. ‘They mezke in ail about Five Hundred, and more are daily expefted. The Beaver is avthorifed to treat for the diftant Tribes ; and the Owendats {ay, they are hkewife. ‘The Chief of the Shawanefe, and moft of that- Nation, are prevented from coming here, bya skirmifh between ther People and the Chickefaws, in which Twenty of the Shawanefe were kill’d, They were fet off for this Place, and recalled by Accounts of that Affair. i ; e fjve Captives are brought ir to be delivered up, and the Declawares {eem difpofed to bring in the Whole very foon.” Suppefing the above, relating to the Reinforcement of the French at Verango, to be true, which we have nio Realon to doubt ; yer we have the Plealure of af- furing our Readers that Capt. Cochran, with 600:Royal Americens, fet oif from Ligonier, for Pittfburgh the 14th laftant ; and Col. Byrd, with the Virginia Forces, was on his'Maich for the fame Place, by Braddock’s Road ; and both fuppofed to be there on Thurfday or Friday ; fo that Garrifen muft be abayt 2500 ftrong, Indians included. ' And we are L.kewife well informed, that there is great Reafon to believe there are Provifions of all Sorts at that Fore, for four or fiveThoufand Men, for two Months. Thus we flatter ourlelves, if the Enemy fhould make an Aftempt on that Fortiels, they will meet with a proper-Receptian. " On Suvday laft Capt. A Schoover and a Sloop were in the Har- hour ; the former mounts 10 Carriage Guns, and has kept an-inceflant Fire on cur Battoes, but as they ate in a good Harbour, as yet the Enemy has done them little or no Damage.
