We hear that the Lighthoufe at Tybee, in Georgia, is ingreat Danger of falling, which wiil be a great Lofs to the Navigation on thofe Coafts. December 15. The Schooner Anne, Reuben Moaore Malter, of and from this Port, is taken near Antigua (whither fhe was bound) by a Freach Pri- vateer Sloop, and carried into Martinico : As is allo the Mary, Scott, of and from Glafgow for this Port. The tchooner Adventare, Capt. Ireland, of and from this Port, for St. Chriftophers, is likewife taken by the French, and carried into Guadaloupe. The laft Accounts we have of Monf. Chateleau are, that he had deeply loaded his Veflel out of the Prizes, and had gone from the Capes of Delaware, about a Fortnight fince, to the Southward ; and that fhe had then only 50 Handson board. The greas Succefs this fhip has met with in America, will pro- bably induce cther European French Privateers, of Iike Force, to try their Fortunes in thefe Seas the enfuing year ; but it is to be hoped, that no Colony on this Continent, will then be unprovided with a good Province Veflel 5 and if not, that a fuflicient Number of his Majefty’s Ships <vill be properly ftationed, and ordered to cruize upon, and not off, thefe Coafts, to preventany Injuries the trade might ocherwife {ultain from the hitherto-ungurbed Info- lence of the Monfieurs. A French 50 Gun Ship is faid to have lately ar- rived at Cape I'rancois, and to have carried in with her a New- York Privateer Snow of 14 Guns. Dec. 18. Capt. Bond, of the Snow Martha and Sufannah, of and rom Gurnfey for this Port, informs us, that his Snow foundered at Sea the 1gth of Oéober laft : He and his Crew got into the Boat, where they continued till the 3d ult. when Capt. Eaton, of North Carolina, ina Schooner, took them up ; and that Capr. Eaton was taken in two Days after, and carried into Guadaloupe. 25. Oo Wednelday EHis Majefty’s Ship Zephyr, Capt. Greenwood, arrived here from Cape Fear to czreen. They did not obierve any Thing like an Enemy on our Coafts ; and, from the beft Accouuts, we have no Reafon to conclude that any of the Ene- my’s Privateers erther are, or for {ome Time paft have been, nearer us than Monficur Chateleau, off the Capes of Delaware. His Exceliency the Governor has been pleafed to iffue a Proclamation, commanding the putting in due and fri@t Exeeution, the Laws againft profane Carf- ing and Swearing, and for the better Oblervation of the Lord’s Day.
