This day his excellency the governor’ returned from the treaty at Eafton, where he had been attgnding with the governor of Pennfylvania, near three weeks, . There were pre- fent at the treaty five handred Indians, about two hundred of which were chiefs and warriots, and of thirteen different aatioss, namely, the eighth confe- derate Nations, viz. the Mohawks, Onondagas, Se- neass, Oaeldas, Cayugas, Tufcaroros, Nanticokes, -and Conoys, naw united into one ; and the Tuieloes: and fve natiops.depeadant on the £lonlederates, viz. the Delawarés, Uhamites, Minifinks, Opings, .and Mobiccons. T here were alfo prefent two Indian meflzngers from the Jndians feitled on the Ohic, who bronght a meffage in writiog figned by fiftcen chiefs of the Ohio Indians, exprefling their defire to have peace with the Englifb, and their intention to accede to his. treaty. The conferences were carried on with great har- mony. The Indians folemnly promifed to return all the Enghfh prifoners. A meflage was fent o the Ohio Indians, accompaned by two Eoglifh officers, a chief of the confederates, and feveral ottier Indians, informing them, what had been done at this treaty, and inviting them to accele thereto.
