From Schoary, on the Mohawks River, we learn by theJaft Letters, That the Inkabitants there had remov- ed the chief of ‘their Effets to Scheneftada, Albany, &c. being in‘ conftant Dread of an Attack from the In- dians at Aquaga, of which they were forewarn’d by the neighbouring Friend Indians : And that ‘they bad ap- plied to General Abercrombie at Albany,who hefitated not 2 Minute to order up two Companies to their Affiftance. ! Buck, in a Prize Ship called the Benjamin, loaded with Wine, Oyl, &c. taken the z8th of November, between Cape Caberoon and Monto Chrifto, by Capt. Griffiths, in the Snow Re- venge : She belonged to Rochelle, but loaded at Breft, and was bound to Cape-Francois. Capt. M'Daniel in the Privateer Brig Hope, has ta- ken and fent into Providence, a Dutch Frgnch Ship loaded with warlike Stores, which 'tis thought will prove a lawful Prize. 3 TFhe fame Day was fent into this Port by Captair Koffler, of the Privateer Ship Dehance, the Ship L Fidelie, which he took about 5 Weeks ags, bound from: Cape-Breton for Cape Francois. Fanuary 16, The Prize Ship taken by the Privateer Snow Dreadnought, Captain Wiltet Taylor,: of this Port, came into Harbour on Monday laft : She is called the Charmount, Monf. Pruneau, late. Mafter, who, with two of his Men were killed in the Engagement, having - fought the Privateer two Glafles on the Night of the. 21ft of November, and an. Hour on the Morning of’s the 22d ; but was at length obliged to firike : Her Loading is chiefly white Sugar, Coffee, and Cbtton, with. fome Indigo : She mounted twelve Iron Guns,. and forty odd Men ; was bound from Cape Francoife: for Old-France. ; BOSTON, Fanuary 23. Thurfday Morning arrived here Captain Thompfon:. in 8 Days from Chignecto, by whom we learn, That on the 8th of laft Month eight or nine Men being fent out from the Garrifon at Annapolis-Royal, to get. Wood, they were fired upon by a Party af Indians, and- two of them killed, the others returning to the Garri-: fon, and giving Information thereof ; Capt. Pigot, of the Grenadiers, with 150 Men, were fent out to recon- noitre the Enemy ; but making no Dilcovery, they di-/ vided into Parties to return, and croffing a Brook, they. were fired upon by a Number of the Enemy, and the: Captain and 16 Men were killed upon the Spot ; 24 were miffing including the 16, the reft got in fafe.
