The Duke of Cumberland left Afferde Yefterday, where his Head Quarters were. The 13th our Troops met a Detach- ment of the Enemy in the Foreft of Zolling, and killed 300 of their Men. Our Lofs was incoufiderable : However, fome of our Officers were killed, among whom is M. Schem, a Lieutenant in the Hanoverial Regiment of Guards. As the Fate of Armisis ever uncertain, his Majefty, inftead of lamenting the bad Succels be met with the 18th Inftant js confidering how he may retieve it. His Majefty, fince that Time, has alfembled his Army on the Right of the Elbe, in a fituztion that is molt favourable for covering Silefia,and fe- curing 2 Communication with Lulatia and Brandenburg. Two large Snows from Bourdeanx for America, are taken by the Calar and Lyoa ’rivateers of Briflol, and left weli off Scilly, under the Convoy ot the Otter Sloop of War. A Ship bound for Cspe Bretoa, is taken by the Defiance Privateer of Briftol, and the Kiag of Prufia Privateer of Lendon, and brought into Falmeouth, A large Snow bour 7 to C'vpe Breton, is taken and fent into Briftol, by the Defiance Privateer. They write from Harover, that Marfhal d’Etrees lately fentan Officer to the Dake of Cumberlaud, to demand a free Paflage thro’ that EleQora €; at the fame Time giving his Word of Honour, that no 3z mage (hiould be done to any of the Electoral Dominions, and that the Freach Army thould obferve the molt exact Difcipline as he paffed thro’ ; but that in cafe of Refufa! he wouid immediately make his Way thro’ Saword in Hand. To which his Royal Highnels made Anfwer, That fuch a Demand was diametricaily contrary to the Views which induced him to accept of theCommand conferred upon him by his Royal Father ; /o that 2 Battle is expected very Jfoon. A French Privateer of 16 Guus, and a Spanifh Ship {af- pecied of having Contraband Guods on board, are taken by the Ranger Privateer, and {ent into Falmouth. July 9. Yelterday Advice came that his Majefty’s Ship York was arrived at Plymouth, 2nd had brought in the Dro- madere from St. Domingo for Boardeaux, of 450 Tons ; the Deux Amies, from do. and the Mars Privateer of 16 Car- riage Guns, and 180 Men. A Ship of 500 Tons burthen, bound from Bourdeaux for St. Domingo, 1s taken and brougit into Briftol by the Trial Privateer. Fuly 12, Extral of a Letter from Liverpool, Fuly 5. ¢ By private Letters from Kinfale we have an Account, that the Ifaac Privateer, Clatworthy, of this Port, had put in there in a fhattered Condition. Ib the North Channel, fhe feil in with a French Fleet of 16 Sail (fuppofed to be their Martinico Ships) who attacked her on every Side. After being difimatted, and 60 Mien Kiied, iLe ftruck ; but dicy would not accept of her, and ftill fired with an Intent to fink her : But fhe got clear of them by the help of her Oars. Fuly 13. The Jafon of Bourdeaux, Capt. Coufcolant, from St. Domingo, of 16 Guns, and 5o Men, having a Let- ter of Marque, was taken by the Bovne Privateer of Dublin, Capt. Michael Jordon, afier a {mart Fagag o The Boyne had only one Man wounded ; but the Prize is very much damaged. Her Cargo confills of 450 Hhds. of Sugar, 66 Calks of Indigo, g4 of Coffee, and about gooolb. of Cot- ton. The Privateer went into Kinfale to clean, and {ent the Prize into our Bay, which is computed to be worth at leaft 24,000l. This is the third valuable Prize the Boyne has taken within two Months. It is reported that a Warlike Veflel is fitting out at Tou- lon, of a quite different Conftruion from any now in Ufe 3 ’tis without Mafts or Sails, is partly fimiler to the Triremes or Three-bank’d Veflels of the Antients, having 3 Rows of extreme long Finn Lke Cars on each Side, but entirgly dif- ferent from them in the W orking, which is not with Men, but by Means of a prodigious Engine between Decks, which once fet going, works thefe Oars for the fpace of forty eight Hours with great Velocity ; what the Succefs of thele Vel- fels may be Time only can difcover. Fuly 14. It is faid that three Regimenis will fpeedily embark for America. The Experiment Man of War has tiken a French Priva- tecr of 40 Guns on the Coafts of Valentia, after a imart En- gagement, in which the French Captain and feveral Officers were killed. TheWound which his Royal Highnefs the Duke received in his Leg at the Battle of Dettingen is broke out afreth ; and Mr. Ranby, his Majefty’s Surgeon, is {ent for to attend his Royal Highnefs. It is ramoured that a Negociation between our Court and that of Ruffia is on the Carpet ; and that the March of the Ruflians may ftill perhaps be retarded. The St. Pierre, Allain, from Pourdeaux to Quebeck, is taken by the Charming Nancy Privateer of Guernicy, but not brought in. The Broderick Privateer of Guernfey, is taken by theVic- tory Privateer of St. Malo's. A Ship from Carolina, for London, with gco Barrels of Rice is taken by two French Privateers. The Anfon Privateer of Liverpocl was taken by the War- wick Manof War, and fent inte Rochfort. Extra& of a Letter from Biddeford, Jualy 12. “ The Tygrejs Privateer is come in from a Craize, and bro's in with ber three Vefjels 5 avhich, awith four others _Jent ta Briftol, make up feven Sail, bound from Bourdeaux to St. Do- mingo. The Tygrefs took them off Cape- Finiflerre, in Company with the Cafar, Lion, and Phanix Privateers of En'/.'al. 9 bree of them firuck to the Tygrefs before the other Privateers came up. ABmongfl the feven, three were Letters of Marque ; one bad 20 Guns and Yoo Men, another 14 Guns, and the other 6 Guns, bifides Swivels 5 that of 14 Guns engaged the Tygrefs abont two Hours, but as the 13grefs avas to Leevard, foe could not come to Jo clofe an Engagement as avas intended 5 the Shi of 20 Guns did'not engage at all, having a Merchont and Laay on board, wha requijicd there might be no Engagement, as thire awas no Probability of ¢jcaping.
