It aéts entirely vpon mathematical Principles, and by Means of a Wheel, is capable of being raifed with amazing Facili- ty, upwards of 150 Feet perpendicularly, andthen, by being thrown tewards a Wall, faflens itfelf to it with Firmnefs and great Security. By being capable of rif" ing to {o confiderable a Heighth, Ditches and other Obfacles to getting near the Walls are of very little Confequence, as they do not at all affe&t the Operation of this Machine. It will alfo be attended with a very beneficial Advantage ; for, by being laid flat, it an- fwers all the Purpofes of a fafe and commodious Bridge. Another Circumftance in its Favour is this, that with very little Trouble it contrals into fo fmall a Compafs, as to be contained in the Body of a common Waggon. Feb. 10.
