We hear that the King of Pruffia, from all his Veteran Regiments, has felected particular and experienced Men, whom he has formed into one Regiment of Body Guards, by the Name of TIIE REGIMENT OF DEATH : They are all drefled in Black, and have no Ornament, buta Death’s Head embroidered on their Caps. On Thur{day laft his Majefly was pleafed to pro- mote the 8 following colonels to the rank of major- general, viz. Alexander Dury, Francis Leighton,Hed- worth Lambton,Lord Robert Manners, John Moyfton, Edward Pole, John Waldegrave, and Peregrine Tho- mas Hopfon. - General Hopfon is to have the Command of the troops deftined to North America. Two remarkable circamftances are related to have happened at the time admiral Byng received his fen- tence ; the court martial awept, and the failors on board gave three cheers. It was reported laft night that the king of Pruflia was put under the band of the empire. It was alfo rumoured that theRufhians cannot march on account of the king of Pruflia’s having bought up all the forage. It is confidently faid, in regard to the memory of the late lord vifcount Torrington, admiral Byng’s fa- ther, the fentence pafled on him will be changed, and that inftead of being fhot, he is to he beheaded. Laft Night it was reported, thatthe French Pofts were ftopped at the different Parts of Europe ; from which it was conje€tured that fomething very extraor- dinary muft have happened there, tooccafion fo un. common a Proceeding.
