Against Outlaw Beds Some of the local fish dealers are dealing with proprietors of shellfish beds which are not approved by the United States public health service, it has been learned by Dr. L. J. Duront, superintendent of health, 2nd notices have gone out to them to the effect that they must discon- tinue handling fish from those beds. The inspectors in the local depart- ment canvassed the fish markets and obtained the information, at the re- quest of the government. It was learned that some dealers obtained t of their supply of shellfish from approved beds and the rest from unapproved sources. Lobsters, clams, oysters and similar fish are included. C. L. & P. Co. to Give Reception to Employes The annual reception of the Con- necticut Light and Power Co. to its employes and friends will be held this evening at the company’s plant on Curtis street. It is anticipated that more than 150 will be in at- tendance. The committee in charge has ar- ranged a banquet, numerous vaude- ville acts and dancing. REPORT FREIGHTER ADRIFT Seattle, Wash., Dec. 29 (F)—Dis- tress messages from the freighter Yojin Maru, saying the ship was adrift in a southwest gale with her rudder lost, were picked up by the harbor radio station today. The ves- sels’ position was reported about 700 miles west of Cape Flattery, Wash- | ington. The Yojin Maru sailed from Van- couver, B.
