DIES ON THE EVE OF 88TH BIRTHDAY Mrs. Rhioda Lovena Barnes Sur- vived by 54 Descendants | A day before she would have had observed her $8th birthday annive Mrs. Rhoda Lovena Barnes, er of Deputy Fire Chief Eugen . Barnes of the New Britain fire artment, died Saturday afternoon at New Britain General hospital aft- er a long illness. Mrs. Barnes, who was the widow of Charles H. Barnes, had made her home in this city for the past 70 years. She was one of the oldest communicants of St. Mark's Episco- pal church and was widely known among residents of this city. Her late husband was a Civil War vet- eran and lived here for many years Surviving are three sons, William, Tugene I. and George M. Barnes, all of this city; three daughtc Mrs. George 1.
