| ‘? Speaking of Sports Tomorrow morning a bus that will accommodate approximately 30 will leave New Britain with approximate- ly 40 football players, managers and ‘ringers” for Bridgeport where the | New Britain High school team will play the Bridgeport Central High school. Tomorrow, it is expected that a Broup of candidates for the football team who are out for practice every night but who do not break into the scrimmage lineups very often will be left at home and a group of boys who do not care to undergo the inconvenience of daily football grinds will be comfortably seated in the bus. Regulars will arrive and will have to sit on the floor or stand up. According to an cstimate of one of the players there are approxi- mately two teams and three or four extra players who are on hand every night at the practice session. If these 25 players were accommo- dated along with managers and coach the New Britain High players would feel like playing football after their trip. 1t is not pleasant for boys to ride approximately 50 miles in cramped quarters and then step out of the bus and play a football game an hour or so later. “Ringers” have caused more than one out of town defeat and if this practice is con- tinued they will cause more losses. 1t is hoped that when the boys ar- rive at Bridgeport tomorrow they will not be allowed steak dinners. It would hardly be the thing before & football game. Gay Bromberg, formerly of this city and regular guard on the Dart- mouth football team, will probably be out of the Harvard game Satur- day. Yesterday he was taken to the college infirmary suffering with a severe cold. His condition is not serious and Dartmouth coaches state that he is in the infirmary for a rest. Bill Phinney has been moved into his place in the varsity line. “Pce Wee” Werwas of New Haven who disported for a number of sea- | sons for New Britain on the foot- ball fleld as a member of local pro- fessional teams, seems to be pretty confident that the New Haven Tri- angles will defeat New Britain here Sunday afternoon. Werwas plays tackle on the New Haven team. To those fans who saw the battle between New Britain and the Tri- angles two weeks ago in New Haven, the claim of the Elm City crew that New Britain won on a “fluke’ 'and & “lucky break”, is one cause for a broad smile, Although the score of the game was only 6 to 0, these same fans say that the New Britain team was by far superior to the New Haven crew. Joe Lawson, son of Jack Lawson, former Connecticut baseball leaguc star, and a triple threat man, for- mer playing mate of Albie Booth, Yale star. has finally agreed to join the New Haven Williams team. Joe has been a holdout but his services were missed greatly. He will be stationed at quarterback PLAYERS GET CHECKS Washington Senators, New York Yankees and New York Giants Get Shares of Series Winnings, Chicago, Oct. 23 (UP) — Checks were issued today by Judge K.
