KILING SCORES ’ Uncontirmed Stories Say 4,500 ‘Have Been Slain London, Qct. 3 (PU)—An Exs change Telegraph dispatch from Je- rusalem reported without confirma- tion today that Turks had massacred #.500 men, women and children and destroyed many villages in the Zilan district. The Exchange telegraph corres- pondent also reported without con- Brmation that Turkish aerial bom- bardments had killed hundreds of ersons in the Djuelmarek, Agri and endruk districts. Troops under Jepvad Pasha Kemal and Eddin Pasha destroyed many villages near Tscaldiran, the dispatch + paid. The engagements covered a wide area along the Turkish-Persian fron- tier, where Kurdish tribesmen have been causing trouble between Turkey and Persia, oulminating in a Turkish ultimatum to Persia to keep the Kurds from invading Turkish ter- ritory. Reports from the frontier to Jeru- salem indicated the Kur@lish insul gents recently had been reinforce: and were defending a 65-mile front stretehing from Aralki to the Baya- zid district, just south of Mt. Ararat. The Turks concentrated around Bayazid and the Iraq frontier, while the Persians also strensthened their frontier forces.
