Social Activities About ‘Gown Mrs. William Bentley in Charge of Open Day State Tourney at Shuttle Meadow Club—W. T. Sloper Entertains Friends at Kensington Farm. x ¥ % PLANS for the open day state golf tourney out at the Shuttle Meadow club-are coming en-apace and if the weather man is kind a big turnout is expected on Tuesday, the 16th. Luncheon will be served at noon in the club dining room and many folks who are not playing the course will run out for the socia] hour this special noon time luncheon affords. Mrs. William Bentley chairman of the Ladies’ Golf committee is overseeing the arrangements necessary for this event, her co-workers include Mrs. R. Frisbie, Mrs. George Rogers, Mrs. W. T. Rowland, Mrs. Maxwell Porter and Miss Katherine Swift. In addition to the regular tournament there will be special contests in approaching, putting and driving. P ARTIES come and go, impromptu picnics and formal dinner gatherings, but outshining by far the every day events of the week was William T. Sloper’s barbecue sheep roast which took place Tuesday evening at his farm down in Kensington. Mr. Sloper is a charming host and his parties are always| delightfully informal. On this occasion his friends assembled | at five o’clock, enjoyed an out of door dinner and later came to town to play one of the midget golf courses. Miniature golf, by the way, has taken the town by storm, the courses are| crowded early and late, in fact after theater games are| partiqular]y popular and with many people this has become the| favorite hour to play.
