The idea of a Von § ette park was discussed today at a conference at the office of Mayor Quigley, arranged by Councilmen F. Willlam Huber and Joseph Land- wehr, representatives of the Steuben society, sponsor of the movement to honor the revolutionary hero. Councilmaen Huber and Landwehr attended a meeting of t park hoard last week and asked park at East, Jubilee and Dwight streets be named for Von Steuben. They were informed that tis nam- ing of parks is a function of the common council and that the park commission, although agreeable to the suggestion, was powerless to af- fix the name. _Coming to the office of the mayor foday to show a resolution which they proposed to present to the com- mon council tomorrow night, they were asked to consider linking of the names of two war heroes and se- lecting a larger and better developed recreation ground to bear the name The idea met with immediate favor. After the conference, announce- ment was made that no resolution will- be presented tomorrow night, but that the next month will be given over to the mayor's suggestion with a petition coming into the Aug st session. 78, Claim- | | ing to Be Member of | authorities | him an ken $12 | 08 High | High | ac- uben-Lafay- | [ JOHN NICHOLAS ATTAGK POLIGEMAN for a | structed CITY IS INTANGLE.
