[ety) ~Tabor Day Festivities Numerous — Resorts to Have Brilliant Week-end and Holiday — Shuttle | Meadow Club Slated for Busy Fall Season. LA\HOR DAY and the week-end occasions all sorts of i esting parties here in town and at the various nearby | resor A sort of general bang up before the curtain rings down on the carefree delights of summer days. House parties | with friends and relatives, dancing, dining, bathing, bridge,| golf and tennis are among the more attractive recreations the heach resorts ofter. The William C. Hungerfords have gone to Fisher's Island this week-end, joining a gay colony of New Britainites who have been there most of the season, and among | whom are Mr., and Mrs. Frank Porter, Mr. and Mrs, Maxwell | Porter, their two children Elliott and Maxine, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Parsons and their two children, Mr. and Mrs. George | f West Hartford with their two sons and daughter. great many of the schools begin the fall season on the 9th of September this vear and that, despite the traditions| attached to Labor Day, really marks the close of the active resort season. For the great exodus which moves most families | to the shore and country in late June and early July and back | to town in September is almost always at the convenience of | the youngsters. | 'OR many weeks the Shuttle Meadow club has been an all day play-ground for local society folks, with luncheons, teas and dinners crowding for attention. With September| almost here, the social life at the club becomes again more | formal. Plans for early fall and winter events are in progress | and there is less of the casual get-together party. Football | games with their attendant dinner dances are perhaps the firsti really important affairs scheduled on the calendar. These are always gloriously colorful events long talked of and long anticipated, attended by scores and scores of local club members and many out-of-town guests. | PR UTSTANDING among the golf events for women at the Shuttle Meadow club next month is one day open tourna ment coming on the tenth. It is quite apparent that the entree list will be larger than ever before for the interest in golf among the women members of the club is continually ‘growing. Later in the month the annual fall tournament features. In| addition to the usual trophies offered for this event'is a very| handsome silver tray which Mrs. J. B. Wilbur, Jr., has donated. .v % Miss Charlotte Parsons—Charlotte is the i ] : : By ; o Miss Elizabeth Cooley, eldest daughter of Dr. only daughter of the Harold M.
