NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, MONDAY, JULY 15, 192. um— GIRL FLEES HOME FOR SECOND TIME Escapes Guard and Still Refuses to Wed Spiett Daniel Gladki was set Saturday night to watch Helen Koski, 17, who was to have married Stephen Spiett | of Bridgeport last Monday evening. But he is said to have become intox- loctted, and that is the reason Miss Koski is now at the home of Louis Pugrosak, a distant relative, of 135 Pleasant street instead of being at the home of her mother, Mrs. Dan- iel Gladki. | Ever since she has been taken to her home following her refusal to marry Spiett, Miss Koski has been watched hoth by her mother and her stepfather. Her stepfather became intoxicated Saturday night, she told Sergeant McAvay last night, and he did not know what she was doing when she put on her coat and hat and told him that she was going out. She came to the home of the Pug- s, bringing her six-months-old child with her. Mrs. Pugrosak, ac- cording to Sergeant McAvay, is get- ting her a job so that she can sup- port her child and herself without | marrying Spiett. Her mother, she said, wants her | sistent in her refusals. The mother | sistent in her efusarls. The mother | has also threatened that she will <end the girl to a reform school if she does not marry the man. Spiett, with a friend, drove to the home of the Pugrosaks Sunday after- | noon and sent a small boy up to tell Miss Koski that a man wanted fo see her. Suspecting that it was Spiett and respecting Miss Koski's | : j [ o ° wishes not to see him, Pugrosak re- ¥ fused admittance both to the boy ' ew ln rlncl e and Spiett.
