Speaking of Sports Three more teams have signified their intentions of entering the play- ‘off for the city championship ac- cording to announcements by their Managers this morning. They are the Holy Cross, John Cabay man Bger; the Burritts, Stanley Budnic manager, and the Tabs, John M Guire, manager. . The stage is all set meeting of the managers of the teams. A night next week will be selected, the exact date to be decid- ed on within the next two days. The teams planning on entering the city series are lined up as follows: Ken- sington, Corbin Red Sox, Falcons, Cross, Senecas, Burritts and We expect that the Sacred Heart and Sokol teams will enter before negotiations are complete. now for a It must be understood that any team wishing to enter the playoff ‘must have a representative at the meeting. These representativs must be empowered to speak for their teams and take whatever action is necessary to ensure the start of the playoff immediately. With the expectation of a spell of rainy Sundays to come, the sched- ule must be arranged immediateiy so that the teams will be able to start at the latest, by the first Sun- day in August. The probability is that there will be nine teams in the running and it will be a difficult matter to get all the games in before the weather changes. With a league formed for ‘the remaining Sundays of the sea- son, the interest should get red-hot in the playoff. The Tabs hard ball team will practice Friday night at 6:30 o'clock at Stanley Quarter park. All mem- bers are asked to appear for the workout as the team is scheduled to go to Harwinton Sunday after- noon to meet the town team there. Teams entered in the Rotary league are hard at it practicing every day for the opening ons of the circuit next Monday after- noon at 2 o'clock at Walnut Hill park. The league will play og Mon- day and Wednesday afternoons t year. The race in the Industrial leagua is getting hotter and hotter. With Landers playing the Stanley Rule team tonight and Fafnirs meeting the New Britain Machine, there are liable to be some changes in th present standing. It appears to be a toss-up in the City league as to the probable win- ner.
