Social Week — Holiday Occasions Many Gaieties ~—Other Events of Interest to Hardware City Folks. W BRITAIN started, Monday last, upon a most brilliant week, with many wcrl activities crowded into the days and nights. Monday witnessed a gala affair out at the Country club, an all day pasty; featuring golf, luncheon and| bridge. Perfect weather added to the general success of the day, while early summer ¢ogtunies in lovely pastel shades and tities of colorful flowers turned the dining room into a spot ocharm and brilliance. Tuesday, there were numerous home es, final bridge club gatherings and supper parties. ‘ednesday, scores of local folks motored away for Mémorial Day, entertaining guests and relatives at shore and country homes, The splendid weather assured the success of these parties; making bathing, boating and beach picnics the amusement of the holiday a:ld :«ee‘k-end‘ 4 beld & Y AAXINE H , only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell M Hart gf Linwl;ri' lo:d is now' Mrs. Sanford Chandler, Her marriage took place at 12 noon today in St. Mark’s Episcopal charch. Simplicity if that were possible was to have been the {keynote of the nuptials and though 1,000 invitations were for the marriage service, crowding St. Mark's to lug eapacity, those bidden to the reception at “Wayside Farm' ‘indluded only relatives and a few intimates. Mrs, Chandler was one of the loveliest brides of the season. Her wedding f$recession was most picturesque, suiting in harmony the quiet of St. Mark’s. The bride herself was in a gown of white :fi-: of uneven hemline, falling in many ruffles to the floor, over which fell her long real lace veil, fastened with orange Blossoms. She carried a sheaf of calla lilies and altogether ‘made a most attractive bride, the effect being further enhanced y the delicate colorings in the costumes of her attend has so lovely a bridal tableau been presented ‘in s, Miss Elizabeth Green of Dayton, O., served as her maid of hémor; wearing a bouffant frock of Dresden taffeta. A soft girdle r 'm::fined the long bodice and fell below the hemline * fo the floor, a large lavender picture hat and a shepherd’s crook ‘fastened with lavender orchids completed her costume. The i s wore dresses of similar type, of the same colorings - and same style. - They also carried the shepherd’s crook decked with deep purple pansies instcad of orchids. : 5 , was'an.unusual.and r?ll,\: a I'):nuti{ul wedding procession.
