Parents’ Exposition; Opens at Stanley Arena Thousands of people literally fill- ed every available foot of sidewalk and roadway space to witness the parade of the 114 baby floats which led the way to the Stanley Arena for the opening of the Knights of Columbus Parents’ Exposition, While the police strove to hold the crowd in check in front of the campaign headquarters at 500 Main street where the parade started it was necessary for others to open a way for the baby buggies in front of the Stanley Arena. It was necessary to open all rear exits that the baby floats could be brought in and placed before they were crushed by the| crowd. Immediately after the opening ov- erture and speech of welcome by the mayor's secretary, Matthew J. C: lahan, the business of judging the respective merit and beauty of the floats was undertaken by a board ¢f judges composed of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Benoit, Mrs. Clare Patterson, William Klambt and Timothy J. Shanahan. Their judgment was vin- dicated by a round of applause us the first, second and third winners were announud Little Mich. Kevorkian, in a beautiful float roses and signifying “A Son America,” was awarded the first ct A float resembling a swan and den by Burton Mangan was awa ed second prize while third prize was taken by little Lorrai Balocki in & beautifully designed carriage representing Little Red Riding Hood, Seven other awards were made in the float division, all of them beau- ¥tiful and worthy of special mention. One of the striking features of the evening was the introduction of | the three baby boys and three baby girls each having the highest health rating in their respective divisi All of their ratings were exceptio; ally high, averaging slightly over § per cent.
