i RUTH THIS HAS HAPPENED Mildree Lawrence. stenographer at the Judson Hotel, has her fox fur stolen from her in a crowd but Ste- phen Armitage catches the thief and returns the scarf. He asks to take her home. Not wishing to seem un- grateful, she invites him to dinner. Their evening is spoiled when Pa- mela Judson, daughter of her cm- ployer, phones Mildred to return to duty. Stephen escorts her to the ho- tel where Pamela rccognizes him as the saleeman who car. She snubs Mildred and tries to lure Stephen away by pretending she wants to buy another car. Then she mects Huck Connor. who comes nfatuated with her, and she amuses herself by playing with both | men. When Stephen favors Mildred the hotel m: ger warns her to be care- ful or Pamela will have her dis- charged. But this may not be so easy as Harold Judson is in love with Mildred. He is a weakling Mildred permits him to call to k him from Huck's gambling crowd. However, he suspects that she cares more for Stephon than for him and refuses to stay one evening when Stephen calls.
