And Bryan Foy, son of the beloved Eddie, and a veteran in pic- ture direction, has outdone himself in “The Home Towners,” a 100 per cent talking picture. The cast is an exceptional one, all being stars of the spoaking stage, and the story is that of two middle- %ged cronies who come together after years of separation. McWade is the one who has married and set- tied down in the home town; Rich- ard Bennetts the other, a man who has invaded the Big Town, made nnich money, and now invites his old-time friend to come to the city Lo act as his best man. McWade suddenly gets tire hunch that his friend is being deceived, by the young lady, whom he is sure must be an adventuress. In the city he berates his pal with such earnest- ness that a quarrel ensues; he faces the girl and her family and accuses them of being all that is not consid- cred right; he stirs up such a gener- al squabble that the girl breaks the cngagement; her parents and broth- er threaten action for slander; his wife thinks he has gone mad, and his friend is at his wits' end. “The Home Towners" is a perfect play. perfectly played. The play had ity premiere at Parsons’ theater, Hartford, last night, being presented to a crowded house which was divided 4n its opin- ion regarding the merits of - the viece.
