Social Activities About Gown Holiday Season Unusually Festive — Parties Galore Arranged for the School and College Crowd— Gala New Year’s Eve Celebrations Planned by New Britainites. 'HE ballroom of the Shuttle Meadow club was the scene of one of the outstanding social functions of the community on Christmas Day when members of the club and their house guests met for the annual children’s entertainment and tea dance. Arranged especially for the young children, the school and college set, the party was to them a great success. The rooms were brilliantly decorated with quantities of holly and pine banking the huge fire place and walls. A Christmas tree, dressed in the colorful filigree of the season, a magician who did all sorts of clever tricks for the amusement of the children and a dancing party completed the entertainment. For the older people Christmas Day was celebrated in the usual manner with many delightful home dinner gatherings and friends dropping in to offer the age old greetigg :Me‘rry Christmas.” OCIETY in New Britain continues to amuse itself with a round of teas, dances and dinners in the various hotels, country clubs and residential colonies. Nearly all the enter- tainments are for members of the younger generation, for debutantes and their friends from universities, colleges and preparatory schools. The brilliant gaiety of the town’s social life has gained a feverish intensity during the last week and the city’s fashionable world is marked with a brilliance and crush of pleasure seekers quite eclipsing the holiday week of previous Years. * * * F COURSE New Britain is on the tiptoe of expectation awaiting the New Year's Eve celebrations. Shuttle Meadow club members look forward to the annual entertain- ment to be held at the club house Monday night. The affair promises this year to surpass its former successes. does the club come to the front with a gala celebration, there are countless others, the hotels here, and in nearby places will all attract their own following. There are also scores of home affairs being planned, all sorts of gay parties, early dinners followed by the theater or bridge, ending up later at one of the dancing places. * EW YEAR'S DAY also goes down on the calendar as one of unusual gaiety. Several parties, more or less informal will keep society on the go all day. As a great many have been invited to three or even four events, there will be a chance to “go on” from one to another. “Open House” is always observed at the Country club New Year's Day and while the largest gathering of folk will naturally congregate there—there are to be sure, 2 number of other notable events of equal attraction— each bringing forth their own following.
