Social Activities About Gown Holiday Dance at Shuttle Meadow Club Tonight High Light of Week’s Social Events—School and College Set Home for Mid-Winter Vacation—Gala New Year’s Eve Entertainment. REPARATIONS are already well under way here for the celebration of Christmas which will be observed in the ho- tels, clubs and residential colonies with traditional customs and events, Lovely, brilliantly lighted Christmas trees greet us on all sides, sending forth the Yuletide message, rejoicing in the merry Christmas season. Mistletoe, holly and evergreens deck the hearthstones, all in readiness for the holiday. Everybody’s smiling, holiday spirits of various kinds are in evidence and the red-coated Santa Clauses on the corners are ringing in a “Merry Christmas.” . s HRISTMAS Day itself, falling as it does on Tuesday, will be a gala one at the Shuttle Meadow club. As always, there will be the usual number of family dinner parties. It goes without saying that the club house will be the gay mecca of the city’s activities, the rendezvous of society. The band of pleasure seek- ers will include all ages, from the real young tots who come out for the children’s party to the older folks, many of whom come out for the party and stay on for supper and early evening dancing. . With continued cold weather it's quite possible that skat~ ing will be another attraction at the Country Club on Christmas Day—a hockey game in the foreground. * * * S THE holiday week draws closer, gaieties in the New Brit- ™\ ain social world increase in number and in size. Something like 100 people will come out to the Shuttle Meadow club tonight Arranged especially for the school and college set the affair has all the earmarks of an The Bennett girls, the two charming young ers _ Clarence F. The older set too, will be in evidence, for this party is by no means restricted to the school crowd. * : TILL another party in prospect at the clubhouse is the New Year’s eve celebration. Hov Bruemmer, chairman of the ontenammnnt committee, is working overtime to insure the sue- cess of this entertainment. One of the engaging features will be the gala midnight supper which will outdo in many respects the most elaborate and surprisi Y the entertainment committee.
