Social Activities About “Gown Reception and Tea for Mrs. Hungerford — Alderson- McGee Wedding Next Saturday — Many Small Parties Slated for Coming Week— Club Events More Numerous. UNTXL this year a Harvest Ball at the Shuttle Meadow club was one of the accepted and regular festivities of the early fall season but for some unknown reason the idea of such a party occurring tonight is not popular. Perhaps the excellent weather of the past week had something to do with the lack of enthusiasm but whatever the reason there were so few res- ervations that the committee voted to cancel all arrangements. The next dancing party is scheduled to take place on the twenty -seventh of October. Following the Yale-Army game it should be a brilliant affair. A great many of the younger school and college set will be home and thgy n.!ways make a gay party. . EXT week Mrs. Frank Porter’s reception and tea is easily one of the most notable events of the week. Taking place Wednesday afternoon at the Shuttle Meadow club in honor of Mrs, William C. Hungerford it will draw forth a large gather- ing of socially prominent people. ' Alice Alderson’s wedding to John McGee, is another event of note scheduled to take place on next weeks calendar. Miss Alderson is to be married in the First Congregational church with her sister, Mrs. Ralph Dame as her only attendant. The wedding service will be read at 7 o'clock by the Reverend Theodore A. Greene before a large gathering of friends and relatives, though those who will .go on to the Alderson resi- dence for the reception are only the close friends and relations of the young couple. i, = Mrs. Sturman Dyson’s bridge and tea slated for Tuesday the sixteenth is another party of wide interest, especially to the younger matrons of town as are many other gaieties of the coming week. Luncheons, dinners and teas for the most part| arranged to honor the coming brides-to-be, * % . S the fall season advances, affairs among the various wo- man’s organizations of the city and near by places get un- der way. The Maple Hill Woman’s club has already held its opening meeting as has the Emma Hart Willard chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. The New Britain Wo- man’s club- meets for the first time this fall next Tuesday at the Y. W. C. A. with a reception and musicale. Activities at the College Club start with a Halloween party at the residence of Mrs. John Loomis, while a banquet and reception at the Burritt Hotel on the eighteenth launch affairs at the New Britain Teachers Club.
