ABOR Day usually rings down the curtain on regular sum- mer activities. Tennis tournaments, swimming meets, boat races and beach picnics are practically over. Vacation homes are closed and town houses are opened. European travel- ers return almost daily, the youngsters are hurried off to schools and colleges and plans for the late fall and early winter are begun in earnest. E Shuttle Meadow club is once more the scene of many gay parties, impromptu teas, luncheons and dinner gath- erings, bridge games and golf matches. Speaking of golf despite the heavy rains and resulting wet course there have been the usual number of interesting well played matches out at Shuttle Meadow this summer, with the final tournament to come October 13th, This is the regular annual eighteen hole medal tournament with full handicaps and will surely bring out a large number of players as well as a gallery of lookers-on. The dancing parties are soon to begin—in the fall they follow the football games and they are almost here, E eternal bride and her attendant parties again hold the center of the stage, here and abroad. Of wide interest is the wedding of Miss Elizabeth Farquhart, daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. G. Farquhart of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Donald Mc- Millan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dugald McMillan of Dover Road The ceremony will be read in New York city next Saturday morning, before the members of both families. Another fall wedding set for Friday, October 12th, is that of Miss Barbara Swift, charming young daughter of Talmadge Swift. Her mar- _riage to Robert T. Everett will take place in the Swift residence ‘on Cedar street. Miss Alice Alderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Algernon B. Alderzon of Lake street has also chosen a date in October for her marriage to John McGee. All in all it looks like & very busy season of weddings for there are countless other marriages of equal interest. In early December, Miss Lois Kirkham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Kirkham and Stanley Hart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hart are to be mar- ried.
