ARREST HAGEARTY INHIS BREWER! Former New Britain Man Take: | by “Dry” Officials Danlel Hagearty, aged 28, alleg- od owner of a wild cat brewery at 763 Washington avenue, West Haven, was arrested yesterday on the premises on the charge of viola- tion of the prohibition law by man- ufacturing beer. He was before United States Commissioner Robert H. Alcorn today and will be tried in United States court. Hagearty formerly lived in New Britain. When arrested By Stanton L. Briggs, chief enforcement officer of Connecticut, and Edwin F. Raf- file, head of the New Haven enforce- ment forces, and their assistants, he was in charge of the manufacturing apparatus. Nobody else was in the brewery, tien. | The place had been under sur- veillance by the authorities for a | week, day and night. Two large mix- ing tanks, one of 300 gallon capacity being full of new beer, were seized | and two 50 gallon barrels of malt | and hops were also taken. The authorities belicve that only small quantities of beer were drawn off at a time from the main tank, as there were no Larrels, cans or other stor- age receptacles found.
