Beamish, president and treasurer of the Bristol Grain and Supply company of North Main | street that an appeal would he taken to the superior court at Hartford be- cause of what he deemed the un- fair assessment of the company property by the board of assessors in | the preparation of the last grand list, completed in February. The | amount shown in the grand list for | land and buildings total $108.000 and for stock, trucks, furniture and | ixtures, ete., $23,000. Mr. Beamish contends ths | Grain company property is at & higher rate than property across the street, whereas property on t opposita side is worth mors b {of the fact that most pedestrians {travel that side of the street. 1t fs the contention of the board of asses- sors, however, that land on the west side, where the Bristol Grain com- | pany buildings are located, is valuable because of the av | stdetracks facilities. This argur Mr. Beamish argues is unreasor because his firm is obliged to pay a rental to the rallroad company for such service and in reality the Grain company is paying double taxation on this basis. The land value property owned by the Grair pany is placed at 3350, by the assessors. It is Mr. Beamish's plan to g ‘other adjoining property own e oin with his company in bring 1the matter before the courts. Beamish as head of the Grain com- vany, has also offered to sell the property at a price considerably lower than the valuation placed on it by the assessors.
