To Fix Tax A meeting of the Finance commit- tee will be held at the Town Hall Friday evening to fix tho tax rate for the coming yeir State Police at Work Two state policemen were ordered to open the state campaign gainst the overloading of trucks yesicrday afternoon in Berlin at the new scal erected about a mile from the cente of the town on the right hand side of the road. Practically every truck that came through Berlin vester and this morning was halted by the oflicers and weighed. The drivers of the trucks, in eve sase, were forced to show their licenses. At some times there were from ten to 15 trucks waiting in line to be weighed. One officer kes care of the in- vestigation while the other watches the road for the appearances of trucks and halts them. The drive will be continued for an indefinite time, until the state police depart- ment feels that they have halted the practice of overloading trucks which has proven to Le a common evil during the last few months.
