There they alept for 350 years and were found alive, tradition says, at the end of that time. The tombs of the “Seven Sleep. era” now are said to have been un- earthed in the face of a clitf in the gorge of Ephesus, Asia Minor, by Dr. Franz Miltner, secertary of the Austrian Inatitute of Archaeology. In a vertically built burial ground hewn in five tiers in the clif’s face in the fifth century after Christ, Protessor Miltner found 500 graves In rock caverns, including those of the Seven Sleepers, According to the old legend, the seven youths were members of the | imperial household of Emperor Daclus, notorious persecutor of Christians in the third century, They were ordered immured in the mountainside after thcy had be- come converted to Christianity. When by accldent the will covering their mountain prison was opened in the reign of Th-odosius in 452, some 250 years !.ter, the ; youths were atill found alive. They died soon after, and Theodosius built a great graveyard and church to mark the spot. Professor Miltner and his col- leaguea have been working on the site of the famous church of St. John, which the Emperor Justinian bullt; In clder strata under this church several more ancient churches were discovered. The entrance of the Church of 8t. John. portions of the principal nave and elaven cupolas were found. The archaeologists found a gym- nasium connected with a thermal bath. The firing plant and boller- house were found preserved intact. Adjoining this bullding is a smaller chamber representing an emperor's sanctum. ‘This hall, which {s of marble, discloses rich ornamentation, statues and reliefs. ‘The most important piece 1is the so-called Tkarus relicf, portraying the god Dionysus visiting the crowned poet. MIX'S DAUGHTER IS GIVEN A GUARDIAN Wil Control Her Financial Conduct Los Angeles, Feb. 24 (P—The finaneial affairs .of Miss Ruth Jane Mix, 16 year old daughter of Tom Mix, film cowboy, were placed in the hands of a guardian today as the outcome of a fight waged by her mother, Mrs. Olive Stokes Mix, di- vorced wife of the actor, to have the girl's support allowance increas- ed from $50 to $1500 a month. Mrs. Mix, in obtaining a divorce from the screen star several years ago, was given custody of the daughter and allowed $50 a month for the girl's support. Recently she petitioned the superior court for the increased aliowance, contending that Mix's wealth had grown to such pro- portions that he could well afford to pay $1500 monthly to meet the in- creasing expenses of their daughter. Over Mix's protest, Superior Judge Crail yesterday. held that the Cali- fornia law gave children of 14 years or older the right to choose theil own guardian, whareupon the daughter picked A. A. Kidder, attor- ney for Mrs. Mix in the original di- vorce proceedings. The actor op- posed the appointment of Kidder be. cause of differences with the attor- ney growing out of the divorce case. ‘The question of how much money Ruth will be awarded remained to be determined. Judge Crail an- nounced that another hearing would be called to settle the matter. He hintedp however, that the amount would not be $1500 by declaring that from his own experience in PLAGUED BY BOILS OBTAINS RELIEF - WITH RABALM *“In apprecistion of the wonderful results I bave obtained from the use of Rabaim, and for the ensouragement of others who mey be affficted with boils, I want to tell you that Rabalm im- medistely relieved a condition which threatened & repetition of & long sad peinful case of neck boils, fer which I wes obliged to undergo & tediows and axpemsive trestment by skilled physicians.
