[~~] NEW BRITAIN HERALD - DRAWS 8 ACES AND FALLS OVER DEAD New York Pinochle Player Conld Not Stand Shock New York, May 20 /—Eight aces, drawn in a pinockle hand, cost | Frank Frankenthal, 40, a watchman, his life, but won him the expenses of his funeral. “I will see that Frankenthal gets the best funeral obtainable; any man who can draw elght aces in a plnochle game deserves it,” declared Irving Kemp, his employer for the past 15 years, when informed yes- terday of the watchman's death. Frankenthal, playing With three friends, Wednesday night,! was dealt two aces, and drew the remaining six. .As he drew his eighth ace he arose from his chair with a shout, and fell back unconscious, A phy- sician found he died of heart failure. Widow Is Pensioner From the War Fought in 1812 Towa City, Ia., May 20 (®—The war of 1812 was fought 23 years before Mrs. Marian Clark was born, but she draws a pension as the widow of a veteran of that war, Only two other women are pension- ers of the same war. Born in Scot- land in 1835, she came to sAmerica and married John Clark in 1865. He died in 1876. This woman pen- sloner of a war 115 years old, only 92 herself, but she is still ac- tive physically and tells many stories of early days in Iowa.
