Second Section EARLY TREATHENT MUST BE ACGORDED This Is Only Way Cancer Can' “Be Gured, Doctor Says | Chicago, Feb. 25 (UP)—Cancer is the cause of one out of every ten | deaths over the age of twenty. It may occur at any age, but occurs most frequently between the ages of forty and sixty. Through the leadership of the medical profession, together with the individual and united efforts of the public in the fight against the infectious diseases such as measles, scarelt fever, whooping cough, diph- theria, typhoid fever, and tubercu- losis, the deaths from these causes have been reduced about 50 per cent during the past 20 years. This has given an average prolongation of life, but has carried more people | into the cancer age. This must, therefore, be at least one cause for the increase of nearly fifty per cent in cancer deaths during the same twenty years. The exact cause of cancer is not known, but we do know that cancer does not begin in healthy tissue, and . if the tissues are kept in a thy condition, cancer will not be to develop. Toward this end rts, moles (especially if under- going change), chronic sores, and recurring crusts should -be removed or properly treated. In the mouth, white patches or any sore or ulcer on the lip, tongue . or throat that does not begin 1 within two weeks should re- ekilful medical treatment. Any be cancer, or may change into cancer. Any unnat- ural dischargo from the body should srouse suspicion and should be ! definitely proven not to be due to cancer. Cancer does not indicate any blood taint, involves no dis- is not contagious, and is not painful at the beginning.
