NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1927, _ THONPSON' STORY AT THE PALACE | Buck Jones Also Listed at Popu-| la¢ Movie House The new popular price policy in- stituted at the Palacg last week fs proving very successful. The low prices of admission, ten and fifteen | cents in the afternoon and fifteen and twenty-five cents at night are very much appreciated by local movie goers, especially so becausc the grade of entertainment being shown at the new prices is the | same as that which had been | shown previously at higher prices | of admission. | The program for the first three | days of the week starting tomorrow | consists of two highhly entertain- | fcatures, Denman Thompson's “Sunshine of Paradise Alley"” Buck Jones in “Desert Valley/” From the reports recefved from | the New York presentation of *Sunshine of Paradise Alley” it is & comedy of merit. Set in the most interesting locale of New York's| East Side, story of the life problems of the | alien peoples, who are huddled to- gether in the slums. The Irish policeman, the Jewish clothier, the Italian fruit peddler and little Sunshine O'Day, the| friend and éhampion of all, are in- | teresting folk, whom we all know | and love — though it is true we! have scen them on the screen all | too infrequently. The director has| told his story with splendid under. standing, directly and forcefully ; without resorting to stage heroics | or diverting the plot to force a; point. tural, tnforced humor, | well conceived and well interpreted | by the time. The pathos of “Paradise Alley,” | the heart rending struggle of Sun shine to overcome the almost in surmountable obstacles in her path; will move the most cynical. You feel for Sunshine and you will cry with her. But her spirit will reach | out to you from the silver sheet. and you will soon again laugh wm\\ her as she gayly laughs at her own | shortcomings. The champion and | the players make this picture | merriest photoplay in a long | teature on this | ogram is Buck Jones in “Desert | 1 lley,” a splendid western picture | pulsing with drama, action and | voaring comedy. ‘“Desert Valley” was filmed amid scenes of rare | beauty among the fantastic forma- | tions of the canyons of the Mo- | 3y thrills and suspens2 abound in this flne picture whose story deals with the disputes of cattlemen over water rights. Buck plays the part of an irresponsible cowboy who has a knack for get- ting into trouble over other peo. ples troubles. Hard riding, spec- tacular fighting and comedy of a rare order make this one of the best westerns seen hers in some | time. This is a clean, wholesome picture which everybody will en- oy. ! There will be two shows Sunday night. The New Palace is open con- | tinuously dafly from 0.
