Several 1 were made which will make the | amouni a little more than that of last year. Last year's budget called | for expenses amounting to $149,661.- | 10, which the proposed amount will | be $149,501.61, a differénce of about | additions | e most infportant additions in- cluded $3,600 which is the town's share of the new Beckley crossing | project. Work on the new overhead | bridge which will eliminate the dangerous crossing has already be- | gun and the town has been assessed | for a part of the expenses. An amount of $3,000 is mention- ed in the budget as a bank loan re- tirement fund, which will be used | fnan effort to do away with inter- est expended in money borrowed | from banks to meet current expens- es of the past years. It has always heen the method of the town to bor- row money until the tima of tax| collection and it has been found that | 8 good part of the money collected wag needed to pay back the banks. The new fund should tend to do away with the necessity of constant- | ly paying out interest on borrowed money and it is thought by the as- sessors and selectmen that a small amount In each year's budget will | soon put the town out of the bor- | rowing habit. The school committees' expenses for the past year have amounted to .§2 against the appropriation 3 d in last year's budget of $83,- £§3,746.00. The committe is asking for $86,350 for the coming year. The town court's expenses amounted fo 3,464 against $10,466 taken in through fines. Liquor penalties have done much to make the department self-supporting and & $2,000 item on the credit side of the ledger has been looked upon favorably by the board. High school tuition amounted to £12,602. The town had appropriated £15,000 for this expense and has re- fnstated the same amount for next year, The assessors and the board of relief each asked for an Increase in appropriation and it was increased on the budget to be passed at town meeting night. Willard I Alling asked for an ap- propriation of $50 for the purpose of perambulating the town line at the New Britain boundary. After much discussion it was put in the hudgef and New Britain will be ask- ed to share half the expense of the work. Bolton-Kasica post, American T.egion, ropresented by TPasquale | Gianottl and Paul Stanze asked for | an appropriation of $340 covering ! the rent pald on Legion hall in Kensington. After a long discussion is was voted by the finance board to ineluda this amount in the budget for this year, the present action, however, to_ have no bearing on fu- ture pleas for appropriations.
