It is trimmed with nar- row bands of tan and red kasha in a design of futuristic looking flowers The most striking of the sports models is a very smart affair of kid skin printed in daring de- sign of irregular dark brown spots on a yellowish beige ground. As this coat is intenced mainly for sports wear, its lines and trimming details are essen- tially tailored in character. There is no contrasting fur on account of the decorative effect of the spotted skin What trimming does appear is insig- nificant so as not to conflict with the ornamental fur. It consists of two rows of narrow pipings of beige colored kasha on the fronts. Ine J The smart tailored lines of this printed kid skin coat shown on the right adapt it to both street and sports wear. lined with It is Rodier kasha patterned in a decorative border design unadorned, the bril- liant design of the fur being of suffi- cient interest. A wrap of this useful character should not be bur- dened with any flares or furbelows. Straight lines are best, and tight fit- ting sleeves without cuffs. In this case the collar and cuffs are quite plain, the shoulder-line narrow and the revers with- out any contrasting trimming. To make up for this severity there is an unusually smart lining made of Rodier kasha printed in a colorful design at the bot- tom. If preferred, the coat may be worn with this kasha side out. A small hat made of the same fur accompanies this coat. It is a modi- fied beret, with a high, flexible crown. The edge of the brim is bound with beige kasha to match the trimming on the coat. Among the practical furs in favor for sports wear is nutria, its warmth, flattering color and wearing qualities adapting it to sports use as well as all around street wear. It is also an excellent fur for motoring on account of the thickness of the skins. While not as heavy as beaver, it has much the same characteristies of this popular felt. Photographed to-day is a most useful nutria coat, a model suitable to beth street and sports wear. It is tailored in contour and trimming as here again I have stressed the straight-line silhouette. Every detail enhances the effect of emart simplicity. The sleeves are close fitting and the same size all the way down; the collar is as plain as that on a man’s coat, with the narrow revers and notched effect characteristic of tailored modes; even the trimming is severe, consisting of marrow pipings of beige colored kasha on the revers, cuffs and skirt section. Light brown kasha with a bright bor- der printed n tones of red is used for the lining. The hat is a small close fit- ting shape of brown suede, trimmed with a star shaped motif of tan leather on one side of the high crown. While equally simple in the matter of silhouette, the cther two models shown to-day are a trifle more elaborate in their trimmings. The more important of the two is « lovely wrap of gray American broadtail combined with white fox dyed to matc! Because an after- noon wrap of this kind is more formal and luxurious in its general effect than the simpler sports models, a certain flexibility of silhouette is customary. In this case the lines ombine a look of slenderness with an appearance of easy grace. The back is straight, plain and fairly close fitting. The front sec- tion, on the contrary, is distinguished by a decorative panel and a slightly flared lower portion. The panel is bordered by strips of silver cloth treated to re. semble leather. These form geometric motifs and the panel itself is cut on a diagonal line to further the suggestion of modernist art. In contrast to the other three cuffless models, this wrap not only has cuffs but cuffs of a contrasting fur. These sec- tions and the wide soft collar are of dyed fox. Just above the cuffs are bands of the silver cloth trimming. Silver cloth so treated as to resemble supple kid is also used to make the lining. It is bordered with a decorative design of orange and green painted motifs, The remaining coat is a most original wrap of natural pony skin in mellow brown tones. As the pelts are very soft and flat this fur is an ideal medium for a tailored type of coat. Here the lines are very straight, with narrow shoulders and plain, tight sleeves. The only con. cession to femininity appears in the shirred collar and the trimming. This latter feature is unquestionably the, dominant note of the wrap. It consists of narrow bands of deep red and tay kasha in large flower motifs on the bot- tom of the coat at both the sides and front. The same design is also used on the revers.
