BRISTOL WIEE 1§ MISSING FOR WEEK Mrs, Herbert M. Evans Dis- appeared From Home Jan. § (%pactal to The Ferald.) Bristol, Jan, 12 — Mrs. Ilorence Upson Evans, wife of Herbert M. Evaps, 120 Wilkins street, wcll known merchant, has been missing from her home for a week. A week ago Sunday night, she went to the home of her son, Ralph Evans, of Southington, where she remained Sunday and Sunday night, Last Tuesday morning, she left +her home for parts unknown, leav- ing no word as to her destination. A search {8 being made for her throughout the cast, but so far no | definite ciues have been found. Since leaving Southington, she has been heard from three times. Throe postals have been mailed to her son, from what is belleved the vicinity of New York city. She fs still belleved to be travel- ing. Mrs. Evans left five children and her husband, who can give no motive for her disappearance, as her family relations are sald to have been amicable. It is belleved that vossibly her actions were caused trom depression, due to iliness. OPPOSES CUMMINGS BILL Traffic Bureau of Chamber of Com- merce Adopts Resolution on Pro- posed Motor Vehicle Legislation. A resolution in opposition to the Cummings bill providing for federal regulation of interstate trucking was d unanimously by the traffic bureau of the Chamber of Commerce at its meeting this noon at the Bur- ritt hotel. This resolution was ori- ginally adopted by the Bridgeport bureau and wasg endorsed by the lo- cal body after an amendment pro- posed by A. P. Marsh to the effect that the bureau oppose any federal regulation by the congress had heen | a; voted down. The resolution is as follows: “Resolved, That motor vehicle transportation has become a vital and necessary part of industrial and commercial life and we are opposcd to the Cummings bill, so called, or any other drastic regulation which would tend to hamper this method of | nsportation and its proper dcvv!»‘; ent.
